4th Year: Narrative tenses

Hello people!

Here is revision on narrative tenses (past simple, past continuous, and past perfect)

First, you may want to revise the uses of each tense. Go over your notes, and check the following website:

http://www.eltbase.com/notes.php?id=201

About Narrative Tenses
When we are telling the story in the past we can use a variety of narrative tenses.
We use the past simple to talk about the main events of the story: The audience watched the live broadcast in horror.
We use the past continuous to describe other events and actions that were in progress at the time of events: A woman was lying on a surgical table.
We use the past perfect to show that a past action took place before another past action: Frida had finished school and was travelling home when her bus crashed.
                was travelling
               |-------------->|
---------------X---------------X---------------X------>
< ---past      ^               ^               now
       finished school     crashed

4th Year: LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER

Hello, everybody! How are you? I hope everything's ok!

Here is the homework for next class

 1)Go to this webpage http://absolutenglish-972.pagesperso-orange.fr/notes/mysteries/lamb-chron.htm and solve the activity. You have to put the events in chronological order. Of course, do this after you finish reading the story!!
After this, re-write this summary on a separate piece of paper so as to turn it into a more personal paragraph. Remember to use narrative tenses (PAST SIMPLE, PAST CONTINUOUS, PAST PERFECT) and connectors (first, after, because, etc...) Also, remember to avoid repetitions by using pronouns. You'll give this to me next class.

 2) Is Mary Maloney guilty? Here you can post your opinion. Go to this website http://yougotthepoint.online.fr/lamb.htm and click on "to the editor". Fill in the form, and express what you believe.

 3) The author of the story is ROALD DAHL. We haven't said much about him in class. That's why I want you to go to this website http://www.roalddahlfans.com/teachers/dahl.php and read his biography. Please, solve activities 1 to 5 in your copybooks.

 That's all! See you on Tuesday!

4th year morning - from Natalia

Hi Tomas an Joaquin

This post is for you to do some writing practice including the last grammar point seen. WRITE A SHORT LETTER to your parents imagining your have been studying english in England for a month. Follow the following organization:
PARAGRAPH 1: ask how the family are and say that you miss them
PARAGRAPH 2: tell them about your life in England, specifically decribing the rules and permissions (or not) that you have in the campus where you are studying. YOU HAVE TO USE MODALS for this.(the ones seen in class. Pages 29 and 30 from the book)
PARAGRAPH 3: talk about your plans for the future. USE FUTURE FORMS for this.

Example:
Dear mum and Dad,
How are you? Hope you are ok...

See you next class!
Kisses. Natalia
